Border News - 2023, Week 11

Dear Border Church Family, 

This week we will be having Church in the park behind Twin Towns. There is ample parking alongside Coral Street where we will be set up with gazebos. We will be meeting at 9:30am QLD time/10:30am NSW time and look forward to spending time with you. You will also get to meet our newest regular as Alina's brother is arriving today from Armenia and will be with us for at least the next 12 months. 

Border Church this week

This week we will look more at spiritual gifts in our Discipleship bites. If you haven't yet completed the Spiritual Gifts inventory, you can find it attached to this newsletter at the bottom. 

This week for our message we will be continuing our series on Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence by looking at prayer in the latter patriarchs - the children of Jacob - with a special focus on Joseph as a revealer of God's mysteries. 

We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. This week we will be having BYO pot-luck picnic with lots to share, so please come and join us for this. 

This weekend

This Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm QLD/3:30pm NSW we are having another vision team meeting at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. All are welcome to join us as we continue to plan our Sowing Season and beyond. 

This week I recorded another episode of The Punchline for Juice 107.3FM discussing Biblical Food Laws as part of a panel discussion with an Anglican Priest and Pentecostal Pastor. You do not want to miss this fascinating show. This episode will air at 8pm QLD/9pm NSW this Sunday night. News and Upcoming events

This coming Monday at 4pm NSW time there is a setting apart prayer meeting for local SRE teachers sponsored by local Churches. This will be at Tweed Presbyterian on the corner of Francis and Wharf streets. 

On Saturday evening March 25 there is going to be a trivia night at King Jesus Church to fundraise for a Children's Restoration Centre in Uganda. Save the date! We will be having a special double-celebration after lunch on Saturday, April 1, 2023. This will be both a birthday celebration for Victor's 2nd birthday as well as a gender and name reveal for our "Bump".

Sowing Season: Autumn 2023

After Easter, we will be launching our first Sowing Season. Every Autumn and Spring we will have seasons of sowing into the community. For our first season, we will be running an Alpha Course, Car Basics, ESL (English as a Second Language) Essentials, Healthy Cooking, Depression and Anxiety Recovery and Sewing Alterations short courses. These will be opportunities for meeting people in the community and growing relationships with them. Please get involved with supporting one or more of these offerings through attendance, inviting people to attend and helping out. We will begin advertising this very soon. 

Regular programing

If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple. 

We run I AM small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus and the basics of the Bible, please let us know. 

Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 2:30pm QLD/3:30pm NSW at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.
