Dear Border Church Family,
This week we will be having Church in our regular venue at the QCWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta. Parking can be found on Griffith and Boundary Streets as well as on Marine Parade. For shaded parking you can park under Twin Towns. We will be meeting at 10am and look forward to spending time with you.
Reminder that with the end of Daylight Savings, we are now meeting at 10am each Saturday. Please adjust your reminders accordingly.
This week for our message we will be continuing our series on Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence and will look at what it meant for Moses to talk to God as one talks to a friend.
We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. We will be having soup/stews and buns this week.
The lovely ladies at the QCWA are extending an invitation and special offer for anyone who would like to join the QCWA Coolangatta branch. Join now for an extra 3 months membership from April 1 through to next June 30, 2024. The fee is only $40 with the Coolangatta branch subsidising the balance of the $77 fee. Membership offers opportunity for networking and meeting new people in our area and getting involved in community projects. We will be partnering with the CWA for things such as cooking classes in the near future, so it would be great if any of you would like to join them. You can find the sign up sheet attached here - QCWA Membership Form.
Easter United was a massive success as thousands turned up at the Broadwater Parklands. Many Bibles were given away and hearts were touched by the Easter message.
We now have a new roster for Church Luncheons through to the end of September. If you would like to plan ahead and know what to bring for the future, you can find this list here on our website - https://border.church/pages/church-luncheons-roster
On Anzac Day this year, Tuesday April 25, there will be a Combined Churches Family event at Murwillumbah showgrounds. I am currently looking at what we might be able to do to contribute to that.
On Sunday April 30, in the evening, there is a planned Combined Churches worship service with the Hub Baptist Tweed group joining with The Gathering. More details on this will be coming soon.
After Easter, we will be launching our first Sowing Season. Every Autumn and Spring we will have seasons of sowing into the community. For our first season, we will be running an Alpha Course, Car Basics, ESL (English as a Second Language) Essentials, Healthy Cooking, Depression and Anxiety Recovery and Sewing Alterations short courses. These will be opportunities for meeting people in the community and growing relationships with them. Please get involved with supporting one or more of these offerings through attendance, inviting people to attend and helping out. One of our first courses will be the Clothing Alterations Course, starting in May. The rest of the dates and times will be in next week's newsletter.
Rhonda has asked for urgent prayer for her friend Jean who has blood clots in her lungs.
If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple.
We run I AM small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus and the basics of the Bible, please let us know.
Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 3pm at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. You can join this prayer meeting through zoom with the link - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095. All are welcome to join as we pray for our community and upcoming projects.
You can contribute towards our community outreach in our tithes and offerings box or online through various options on our website at https://border.church/give
If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at 10am NSW.
Blessings
love
Brendan, Alina, Victor and Erina
